President Megan Murphy called the January meeting of the Association to order with a salute to the flag at 9:00 AM on January 9, 2007

Due to the Christmas Party all business was suspended and there is no Secretary’s report.

Treasurer Francolini gave the following report:

Committee Reports

Board of Directors: No Report

OSFM: Wayne Maheu reported that John will be coming back part-time soon.

OEDM: Sue Vaughn stated that the Night Certification class starts tonight with the Day Certification to start in April. Sue reported that 12 education classes are closed but with the high NO Show rate a person should attend anyway. If the class is full there may not be enough materials to distribute and it will go to the registered people first. Sue also state that the Office Legal Department recommends that we disband the use of panels in discipline actions against Fire Marshals. There was much discussion on this and the members in attendance do not agree with the recommendation.

DFEBS: Wayne Mahue stated that they were preparing for the new Legislative season.

Special Hazards: No Report

Legislative: Kevin Kowalski stated that we as a group will be addressing the following:

  • Safe Cigarettes
  • Training Council
  • Limited Licensing for Home Sprinklers

Ted Schroll was in attendance and stated that is was early in the legislative season, but went over the few bills of interest.

Motion was made and seconded to move the applications to New Business. Passed

Codes and Standards: No Report

“541” Committee: Lee Cook reported that the committee continues to meet regularly.

NFPA: No Report

ICC: No Report

NEAFM: Will be having a Seminar in March watch for information.
NFPA 58 will be including a definition of Cabinet Heaters in the new edition.

Conference Committee: Class schedule has to be changed to May 7 & 8 due to scheduling conflicts.

Training Council:  No Report

Commission on Fire Prevention and Control:  No Report

New Business

A motion was made and seconded to have the request for memberships follow the normal course of action. Passed.
A motion was made and seconded to approve funds in the amount of $300 for Kevin Kowalski to attend the Congressional Dinner as our representative. Passed.
With no other business to come before the Association a motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting. Passed 9:30 AM
