The BOD approved to send a recommendation to association to approve a contract with Powers for the amount of $24,000 to be paid in monthly installments of $2,000. Discussion was held on the possibility of going to a quarterly meeting schedule as a way of bolstering meeting attendance as well as cutting the meeting cost to the association. Old Business

Kevin Kowalski spent considerable time bringing the members present up to speed on the old issue of hiring a lobbyist. He and the legislative committee do not have the hours available to spend in Hartford and this year it is vital that we maintain a presence there. There was long discussion amongst the membership and it was motioned to follow the recommendation of the BOD to sign a contract for a period of 1 year with Powers. This was seconded and approved. The president was directed to sign the contact at his earliest convenience.

New Business

A motion was made and seconded to cancel the February 12, 2008 meeting. Passed

Some discussion was held on relocating the meeting to Firehouses rather than canceling meetings. This will be addressed by the Board of Directors.

Good of the Association

President Rockwell thanked all for there continue support through attending meetings and hoped that this will continue as this will be a big legislative year for the Association.

With no other business to come before the association a motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting. Passed. 10:21 AM.

Respectfully Submitted,
Thomas O’Hare
