02/06 Meeting MinutesMeeting Date: February 14, 2006 58th Anniversary of the CFMA On a vote of the membership present the meeting was suspended for a Q & A on the new codes and their impact on the local Fire Marshal. This discussion included Chris Laux, Terry Brouwer and Mike Sinsigalli. The business meeting resumed at 10:15 AM. President Varga asked for a motion to accept the minutes of the January 06 meeting. A motion was made and seconded. Passed Treasurer Francolini gave the following report: Checking Balance $4,919.51 Savings Total Association Assets $22,817.22 Correspondence: None Committee Reports Board of Directors: Art Higgins reported that the BOD discussed the CFMA Conference; the work that the Finance Committee is doing; Sparklers Bill; Temporary shelters and funding for Vehicle Fire Class $500; Advanced Fire Investigation Class $2,000; Legislative Session $250; Trinity Robot Challenge $500; and the Intervention Convention $300.
OEDM: Sue Vaughn stated that the deadline for submission of the 2005 NFIRS will be February 28, 2006. Advanced Fire Investigation School announcement to go out soon. OSFM: John Blaschick thanked the 3 speakers for the Q & A Special Hazards: No Report Legislative: Kevin Kowalski stated that he will be meeting with the Joint Council at the capital on 2/15/06 and discuss the Fireworks and Sprinkler licensing issues. Membership: Bob Saucier presented for 2nd reading: Bob Saucier presented for 1st reading: Bob Saucier presented for Life Membership: Codes & Standards: “No Report” “541” Committee: Mike Sinsigalli reported that the committee looked at the temporary shelter issues and suggested that the issue be brought up again for the next code cycle. NFPA: Bob Duval advised us that support for the sprinkler issue is available for home sprinklers through the coalition. New England Fire Marshals: Kevin Kowalski there will be a one day seminar on March 20, 2006. More info to follow. Conference Committee: President Varga reported that all is set and reminded everyone that you should take all 4 modules of the Electrical Class. Training Council: Jim Doherty reported that 14 Fire marshals were up for de-certification of these 6 were reinstated and the rest will continue in the decertification hearings. Commission on Fire Prevention and Control: “No Report”
Old Business New Business Motion to accept the “Life Memberships” Passed Motion made and seconded to allow the following expenditures as voted on by the BOD Motion made and Passed to give Kevin Kowalski a $300 Grant to attend the Washington Conference. Passed Good of the Association The Fire Department Instructors have invited us to attend their March meeting at Honeywell. Training Credit will be given. With no other business to come before the Association a motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting.
