President McCarthy called the April meeting of the Association to order with a salute to the flag at 8:40 AM on April 10, 2007

A prayer was offered by Father Hyland. The business meeting was suspended till after breakfast.

The business meeting was called back to order at 9:03 AM

A motion was made and seconded to accept the report of the secretary. Passed.

Treasurer Francolini gave the following report:

Committee Reports

Board of Directors: No Report

OSFM: John Blaschick stated that the Advanced Arson School is taking applications and has 26 people signed up so far. He also advised us that Wayne has let him know that the Building Officials are on Board with us on the Sprinkler License changes.

OEDM: Doug stated that the 40th Certification Class (Day) has started. He thanked the CFMA for their support of the Advanced Fire Investigation School.  

Special Hazards: No Report

Legislative: Kevin Kowalski stated that all bills that we supported are sitting in committee. The Safe Cigarette Bill has a good chance of passing. The discussion on Fire inspections in regard to liquor licenses is at a stand still. The F7 & F8 sprinkler licenses for 1 and 2 Family homes is going to Regulation Review. Fire Service Day will be April 26, 2007 at the Capital.

Motion was made and seconded to move the applications to Old Business. Passed

A motion was made and seconded to send to New Business the following names for Life Membership; Stanley Olszewski; Louis Yarrish; Ronald Nattrass; Robert Fairty; and Fred Gardiner. Passed

Codes and Standards: Jim Doherty reminded that any firemarshal that has an appeal before Codes and Standards should be present at the appeal meeting.

“541” Committee: Lee Cooke reported that the committee will be meeting next Thursday 4/19/2007

NFPA: No Report

ICC: No Report

NEAFM: 2nd Vice Pat Tourville reminded everyone that the Fall Conference has been posted to the website.

Conference Committee: Peter Phalen reported that all the loose ends were being completed and the brochures are available online.

Training Council:  Joe Micalizzi reported that the training council will be celebrating their 20th anniversary this year and would like to have a small ceremony at the October CFMA meeting. He also reported on the bill that would give the authority for the Council to meet and work with the Office of the State Fire Marshal on Fire Marshal decertification.

Commission on Fire Prevention and Control:  President McCarthy reported that Dick Morris has given notice that he would like to be replaced on the Commission. Megan ask that anybody that may be interested in the position to please contact her.

Old Business

A motion was made and seconded to accept the 2nd reading and grant membership to those applicants. Passed

New Business

A motion was made and seconded to grant Life Membership to Stanley Olszewski; Louis Yarrish; Ronald Nattrass; Robert Fairty; and Fred Gardiner. Passed

John Francolini requested that the Association supply $500 for seed money for the golf tournament scheduled for August 15, 2007. A motion was made and seconded to give the $500. Passed.

Due to the change in the Bylaws and miscues, the nominations and election of officers will be at the May meeting.

Good of the Association

John Francolini was presented a retirement gift on behalf of the members of the Association.

With no other business to come before the Association a motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting. Passed 10:05 AM
