10/07 Meeting Minutes

President Rockwell called the October meeting of the Association to order with a salute to the flag at 7:00 PM, Father Hyland led all in an opening prayer.

Prior to the start of the Business Meeting Sue Vaughn MC’d a short program on the Connecticut State Fire Marshal Training Council. As part of the program Commissioner John A Danaher III and Howard Nielsen both spoke to the members present.

Meeting was adjourned for dinner at 7:30 PM

The business meeting was called back to order at 8:20

A motion was made and seconded to accept the report of the secretary. Passed.

Treasurer Francolini gave the following report:

Committee Reports

Board of Directors: Chairman Art Higgins congratulated the members of the Training Council that were present at the meeting. He mentioned that all committees are moving along and we are looking forward to the upcoming legislative season. The BOD also approved a request for $8,000 in seed money for the next conference.  

OSFM: It was reported that Bill Wilson had recently passed away.

OEDM: Sue Vaughn reported that the new OEDM list serve is now in use and will be used in the future for special announcements and to enhance the present mailings.

Motion was made and seconded to move the applications to Old Business. Passed

Codes and Standards: No Report

“541” Committee: Lee Cook reported that the committee is meeting monthly.

NFPA: No Report

ICC: No Report

NEAFM: 1st Vice President Pat Tourville reported on the September Conference and reminded everyone to view their website for future happenings.

Conference Committee: Peter Phalen reported that the conference committee is working hard and will present an exciting program next year.

Training Council:  Joe Miccilizzi thanked the planning committee for the Training Council Program that was presented tonight. He also mentioned that not much else was happening with the committee at this time.  

Commission on Fire Prevention and Control:  No Report

NFPA 1: John Jackman reported that all chapters and changes have been reviewed.
The draft is in legislative review. The committees hope is to have the working document in place by October 2008.

Old Business
A motion was made and seconded to have the 2nd readings approved as members of the Association. Passed

 

New Business

A motion was made and seconded to have the 1st readings follow the normal course. Passed

A motion was made and seconded to approve a sum not to exceed $8,000, for seed money for the April 2008 Conference. Passed.

Good of the Association

It was noted that Vinny Depitro is on the mends and would appreciate cards and visits from the members.

With no other business to come before the Association a motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting. Passed 8:35 PM
