11/07 Meeting MinutesMeeting Date: November 19, 2007 13, 2007 60th Anniversary of the CFMA 1st Vice President Pat Tourville called the November meeting of the Association to order with a salute to the flag at 09:13 AM. A motion was made and seconded to accept the report of the secretary. Passed. Treasurer Francolini gave the following report: Checking Balance 12,079.54 Savings Total Association Assets $26,456.24 Committee Reports Board of Directors: Chairman Art Higgins stated that the BOD is discussing Association expenses, the April Conference and the upcoming legislative season. OSFM: John Blaschick reported though the new statute update that the OSFM will handle complaints of inspection that come into the office in actuality it is the local marshal that should handle these complaints. This language will be addressed in the upcoming legislative season. Rob Ross is the new Executive Director for Public Safety. OEDM: Sue Vaughn reported that NFIRS are due and the Spring Schedule will be published soon. The CFMA / CBOA conference was a success with the largest attendance to date. Special Hazards: No Report Membership: Chairman Jolynn Vanwart presented for 1st Reading: Motion was made and seconded to move the applications to New Business. Passed Codes and Standards: No Report “541” Committee: Lee Cook reported that the committee is meeting monthly. NFPA: No Report ICC: No Report NEAFM: 1st Vice President Pat Tourville reported on a successful training secession at TYCO and thanked all for their support. He advised all to watch the NEAFM website to see the dates for the March seminar. Conference Committee: 1st Vice President Pat Tourville reported that the conference committee is working hard and will present an exciting program next year. Training Council: No Report Commission on Fire Prevention and Control: No Report Old Business New Business A motion was made and seconded to have the 1st readings follow the normal course. Passed Good of the Association A question was raised from the floor on Black Forest Fire Starter Logs. These fire starting logs are designed to look like sticks of dynamite and even are stored in dynamite looking storage box. These are very realistic and a closer look at the item is warranted. A letter will be sent to the OSFM by the BOD. If 50 Fire Marshals are also members of the ICC we can become our own chapter of the ICC. This is a topic that will be discussed by the BOD on what the merits of becoming a chapter will be. The members present held a moment of silence for Fire Marshal Hugh Allen of Clinton who recently passed away. Iggy has finished the Cross Reference Index for the Codes and will be sending it out to Fire Marshals via email in the near future. The OEDM: website has NFIRS changes that will be instituted beginning January 2008. With no other business to come before the Association a motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting.
